In May I took my band Parade on tour in Western Canada and Ontario as preparation for the sessions for our first studio album! I’m psyched to report that we’ve recorded twelve tracks, they’re sounding amazing and I can’t wait to finish this record and get it into people’s ears! Here’s footage from the band performing “Hideko” (which is one of the pieces we recorded) in Calgary during our tour:
Could not be more excited to announce that my debut album ‘Icterus’ releases on December 16th. This music has been in the vault for a long time and I’m psyched to finally present it!
We’ll be kicking off our release tour in Toronto on December 16th at Burdock where I’ll be playing alongside Mark Godfrey, Robert Ogilvie Grieve and Patrick O’Reilly. ALSO, two of Toronto’s baddest improvisers, Laura Swankey and Karen Ng, will be opening up the show and collaborating throughout the evening. You can find tickets for that show here: http://burdockto.com/shows/?show=1526
Following our Toronto show I’ll be heading to my home province of Alberta with stops in Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton. These shows are especially exciting because for one, they’ll be in front of a lot of family and old friends, but they will also feature my long time collaborators Darren Young and Shari Rae Klassen. Details for the Calgary show are here: https://www.facebook.com/events/743251166022574/
Blue Sky Miners had the pleasure of filming this live session with Southern Souls in the heart of the most mild of Toronto winters. We were lucky enough to have Todor Kobakov, Michelle Faerhmann, Jeri Gogo and Rachael Cardiello sitting in. Check it out!
I recently had the priviledge of spending two and half weeks in Western Canada on tour with Blue Sky Miners!! We swam in the ocean daily, played 17 gigs in 16 days, pushed our bodies to their limits, and did our best to love eachother unconditionally (which was probably the hardest part?). Luckily the tour ended in Calgary and I got to gorge on my mothers cooking and recoup for a couple days in my childhood bed. Here’s a little taste of the vibe!
Recently JJ and the Pillars were invited to perform live on the Edge from their studio. It sounded/looked like this…
After 4 months, 627 bands, and a gnarly show at Sound Academy last weekend, it’s finally been determined that JJ and the Pillars are in fact THE NEXT BIG THING. Check out the deets here:
Check out JJ and the Pillars new music video for our song “Slip Away”. The video was filmed at The Piston in Toronto, annnndd JJ’s Porch….
